British Cycling and Manchester City Council are looking for enthusiastic people to get involved in the Sky Ride programme this summer, and other recreational cycling opportunities. You can train as a British Cycling Ride Leader and inspire cyclists to get more out of their riding, have fun and get a recognised qualification. Qualified leaders and planners receive a cycling jacket and bib, free membership of British Cycling and ongoing support. The application forms can be downloaded from www.britishcycling.org.uk or contact recreation@britishcycling.org.uk

Next Ride Leader course:

  • 1 May: MANCHESTER

There are a wide range of oportunities that this training can be used for:

  • Become a Skyride ride leader and lead a number of rides of different lengths and difficulty levels across the city (casual work for British Cycling).
  • Develop your club's activities to offer bike rides; offering your members a change from their cycling facility.
  • Expand your club's activity to include recreational riding - bringing in more members to your club
  • Enable schools to take young people on bike rides as part of the curriculum, or as part of a school cycling club
  • Instill the joy of cycling in others, allowing them to further explore their area on a bike or to take a longer ride into the country.
  • Those who have become ride leaders can then go on to do the route planner training if desired, allowing people to plan Skyride Local routes also.

To find out more about when the local skyrides are starting and where there will be running, there will soon be information on www.goskyride.com.

If any club member attends the course then please can you email me on clubcoach@man-tri-club.org.uk to let me know. Don't forget we are always looking for club members to help out with our club ride programme.
