Welcome to a new season

Last weekends Ironman World Champs in Kona brought an end to the 2009/10 triathlon season. So this week saw the beginning of winter training at Man Tri and the start of the build up for 2010/11.  Whilst winter means less racing and a well earned rest for many, it is probably one of the busiest times for the club. Read on to find out about our updated training schedule.

Sunday Group Rides

Running from October till April we organise group bike rides each Sunday morning from Didsbury and Dane Road, Sale. Alan Sheldon our cycling coordinator (cycling@man-tri-club.org.uk) is busy recruiting ride leaders so get in touch with him if you can help out.  Check the training section of the website for all the key information and the training section of the forum for the details of each weeks ride.

Cycling Skills Sessions

Neil O'Brien, with support from Alan Sheldon, is coaching cycling skills sessions for Senior members each Saturday afternoon at Wythenshawe Park Athletics Track. Read the page in the training section of the website for more details and the training section of the forum for last minute information.

Friday Turbo/Spin Sessions

The popular Friday evening turbo/spin session at Stretford will be back from November (7.30-9.00pm). It will again be coached by Tony Jolly with support from Rob King. We will also have access to a couple of WATT bikes which will be available for fitness testing of members.  Check the page in the training section of the website for general information and the training section of the forum for the latest details.

Saturday Morning Run Sessions

With the Cross Country season upon us, Jonathan Dabbs and Rob Harper are running weekly hill and off-road running sessions for members each Saturday from 10.30am to keep you fit and strong over the winter months. Again a schedule is available in the training section of the Man Tri website with a weekly post in the training section of the forum for details of each weeks run.

Tuesday Circuit Session

From November until the end of March, Nick Thomas will be delivering a circuit session at Moss Side from 8.00-9.15pm. The session was very popular last winter and I'm sure will be again.

Tuesday Turbo Session

Alongside the circuit sesion at Moss Side (Tuesday 8.00-9.15pm) members will be able to do a turbo session in the room where the circuit is taking place. Coaching support and a set will be provided to get everyone going, but participants will then be left to manage the set themselves. If demand is high a separate coach and venue will be found within Moss Side.

Poolside mobility, injury prevention and core work

For 30 minutes each Monday and Thursday evening before the swim sessions at the Aquatics centre there will be mobility, injury prevention and core work on poolside.

S&C Programme

For the first time this year we have a free-weights based strength and conditioning programme on offer for members. For all the details follow the link in the title above and get signed up now.

Training Camp - Club La Santa

We have 2 places left for the clubs training camp to Club La Santa, Lanzarote in January.  Get the New Year off to a great start and get signed up.

And Finally.......

Look out for more winter training duathlons, bike maintenance workshops, bike position workshops, the annual training weekend as well as the odd Velodrome Session.

For an overview of the clubs training programme see the session calendar here:

training > sessions

Details about all the club regular training sessions and training events are available under the training tab of the website.

Check out the clubs Google training calendar for a day by day view of the clubs activities.

And of course use the clubs forum to get all the latest info.

It's going to be a busy winter so set some new goals and start training.

Thanks
