Xtra Mile Events
Xtra Mile Events organise triathlons and duathlons across the North West, North Wales and Yorkshire. Our variety of fun and exciting events are suitable for novices and experienced triathletes. We also encourage relay teams and competitors looking to fundraise for charities.
Xtra Mile Events would like to thank all the Man Tri members who took part in our events in 2009. It was a busy year for us, not only did we expand our race calendar but we expanded our family with Eddy joining Freya as the future for triathlon!
WE HAVE NOW OPENED ENTRIES FOR 2010
For all of you who don't know what presents to buy for Christmas why not enter your friend or partner in a race and download our Christmas gift certificate to give them on Christmas Day.
What's on in 2010
XTRA MILE EVENTS SPRINT SERIES
We have streamlined the sprint series to be made up of what we think are some of the best sprints in the North. All with RFID chip timing and t-shirts at each race.
Wilmslow Triathlon - 9th May
The race to start your triathlon season. Wilmslow goes from strength to strength.
Northwich Triathlon - 13th June
New bike course (no traffic lights). A fast flat course, great for novices and people looking for a fast time.
Leeds Xpress Triathlon - 1st August
Set in the awesome grounds of Leeds Grammar School, this tri offers a deceptively challenging cycle and a lovely off road run around the grounds.
Macclesfield Triathlon - 15th August
One of our favourites back in its August slot. Slightly longer cycle and run distances around Cheshire countryside. Another nice flat course suitable for beginners and the quickies.
Buxton Triathlon - 26th September (TBC)
"What a course!" Stunning scenery and a tough cycle but what a sensation of fulfilment at the end. Set in Buxton's beautiful pavilion gardens, a great day out.
There are prizes for each race and overall prizes for the series winner. Can you beat all conquering Martin Cain and Helen Cawthorne - 2009 series winners??
Triathlon Weekend 10th / 11th July 2010
Llandudno Sea Triathlon - come for the weekend!
Why not make this a club weekend and come and race the most impressive, picturesque course in the triathlon calendar. This year we have added a sprint distance and are planning a Saturday night BBQ and cash prize fund!
Both the sprint and standard races swim alongside the beach and then cycle along the promenade before heading around the stunning Great Orme on closed roads. The final leg involves running over the Little Orme and finishing along the promenade in front of 1000s of cheering spectators.
Comments from 2009 - "Awesome!", "Just like Nice (Ironman)"
All types of accommodation available from camping to some of Wales' finest hotels.
Leeds Triathlon 12th September 2010
A tough but pleasing challenge to finish the season with.
A great swim in the lake at Roundhay Park followed by a deceptively challenging cycle route out into the Yorkshire countryside. We have improved the course and shall have chip timed lap splits.
The run is around the park with the challenge of Hill 60 and a finish in front of the mansion and the cheering crowds.
Oulton Park Duathlons
We are starting the season with the Oulton Park Spring Duathlon and finishing with the Autumn Duathlon.
The Spring race will be a sprint distance 4.3km, 19.4km, 4.3km with the Autumn race being the longer classic distance 8.6km, 38.8km, 4.3km.
You can't beat this venue for a duathlon - closed roads, smooth tarmac, a challenging course and the banked, Scalextric style hairpin!
