Safety Briefing

As a participant in a Manchester Triathlon Club training session you have a responsibility to read and understand everything contained within this written safety briefing. DO NOT TAKE PART IN ANY MTC SESSIONS UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE SO. A limited number of points relating specifically to the activities, equipment or goals used in that session will need to be delivered by the coach before each session. The information listed here will not be repeated.

 

  • Please read the risk assessment for this session
  • The coach will let you know of any relevant additional hazards associated with the planned session activities not listed in the risk assessment.
  • Please read the Emergency Action Plan which outlines what you need to do in the event of an emergency during the session.
  • For additional information health and safety documentation provided to the club by the venue see the links listed on the relevant activity card. This could include:
    • Venue Normal Operating Procedures
    • Venue Emergency Operating Procedures
    • Venue Risk Assessments
    • Venue Health and Safety Procedures
  • The designated first aid person and the location of the nearest first aid kit are noted on the Risk Assessment.
  • Every participant must sign-in before taking part in the session.
  • Be sure to follow the Sign-in procedure when you arrive for the session. This procedure requires that you show your membership card or provide a training voucher, sign the register, make the coach aware of any special requirements / medical conditions that may affect your participation, have to hand any medication you may require. The coach will remind you of these steps before the session begins and will stop the session if it becomes apparent that people have not completed them.
  • If you are not a member of MTC you must complete the Emergency Contact Details section of the Participant Information Form before taking part in the session. [NOTE - AT THE MOMENT NON-MEMBERS ARE NOT BEING ACCEPTED INTO MTC SESSIONS DUE TO INSURANCE ISSUES]
  • If you are under the age of 18 you must have provided the club/coach with a signed Parental Coaching Consent Form. Any junior who has failed to submit a signed form will not be allowed to take part in the session. If you are a member your Parents/Guardian will have completed a Parental Consent form when you joined.
  • You are reminded to make yourself aware of the rules / etiquette for the session as listed on the activity card.
  • The coach will let you know the goal/s at the beginning of the session.
  • The coach will describe to you how to perform any specific techniques required during the session. If you don't feel comfortable with anything you are asked to do stop and ask the coach for clarification.
  • You must let the coach know of any incidents or accidents that occur during the session so that the appropriate action can be taken.
