Run (Intro)
This session is aimed at those new to running or returning after a long break. We're calling it Couch to 5k after the programme available via the NHS Choices website as the idea is similar. You will be following a rolling 9 week programme with the final week involving a test run or 5k race. It's primary aim is to get you up to running 3 x 30mins each week and teach you the basics of good running form/drills. We also hope to teach you the basics of different run training types so you will be prepared to progress to the clubs intermediate run sessions. You can continue coming until you feel ready to join in with the intermediate track sessions:
- Each Wednesday from 19.30-20.30
- Meet at Longford Park Athletic Stadium - Meet in the car park just outside the doors to reception (DON'T GO INTO THE STADIUM AS THE CLUB WILL THEN BE CHARGED £2 BY TRAFFORD ATHLETIC CLUB)
- The session will be coached by Llyr Hughes
To begin with, this session is also open to non-members who want to start getting fit so mention it to any friends you think it will suit. As you may be running out on the roads then a high visibility vest is recommended.
What will be provided?

- We have 10 high visibility vest that new group members can borrow. Regular attendees are expected to bring their own.
- 1 x 750ml drink (as a minimum)
- Sports Watch (for timing)
- Optional: Heart rate monitor
- Running shorts / tights
- Running vest, t-shirt, jacket if cold.
