Reasons for Starting Coaching

  • Hopefully I can pass on some good advice after 15 years of competitive swimming experience.

Reasons for starting triathlon and open water swimming

  • I was looking for a new challenge and being able to handle a road bike certainly gave me that!
  • No swimming races in the pool were ever long enough.
  • Swimming outdoors is fantastic. The scenery changes all the time and you get a great sense of achievement battling against the elements.

Most embarrassing moment in a race

  • Having such poor bike handling skills that I couldn't get my water bottle back in the holder whilst cycling so had to ditch it at the side of the road.

Worst moment in a race

  • During the swim across Coniston I set off a such a pace that I didn't see my boat crew for over 15 minutes

Best Moment in a race

  • Having a wee in the lake to warm myself up ;o) I wouldn't recommend swimming next to me!
