Man Tri Bike Sessions
The bike training sessions provided by Man Tri are seasonal. In the winter months the emphasis is on building up base aerobic endurance through rides in the local countryside (details here). This is supplemented with targetted training using turbo trainers.
The details of each week's rides will be posted in the Training Forum, so check there to find out what is going on.
In the summer these sessions are replaced with club 10 mile time trials to build up race speed and monitor progress. There are also a number of brick training sessions starting early May to which will alternate between turbo and run sets.

Sunday Training Rides
Sunday training rides are now running every week. There will be two or three groups each week to cater for all levels of rider with a designated leader who will plan the route. All rides will begin from Didsbury Clock Tower.
An alternative ride for early risers leaves from Sale. This is suitable for stronger riders only.
The Sunday Rides are a great way to maintain fitness and motivation over the winter months as well as a chance to meet other members. The programme will be varied around long, hilly, interval and challenge rides to keep thing interesting and make the most of the fantastic countryside surrounding Manchester.
The details of each week's rides will be posted in the Training Forum, so check there to find out what is going on.
Turbo training sessions
Two weekly turbo sessions are now running at Moss Side Leisure Centre, and one at Stretford Leisure Centre. There are now locked containers at Moss Side where you can leave your turbo trainers to use for these sessions. Please note that while these are locked and we don't expect any problems, you leave your equipment at your own risk.
The sessions are periodised throughout the winter to improve technique, endurance, lactate tolerance and strength. They are available to people of ALL abilities.
Turbo sessions are the most effective way to maximise your training time. There are no traffic lights or descents, so heart rates and rest periods can be controlled and adjusted. Combined with the swim beforehand (Moss Side) or afterwards (Stretford), you can complete two key sessions.
You will need a turbo trainer, bike, towel, at least one bottle of isotonic drink and some food for after the swim. Bikes and gear can be brought into the centre and left in the room (at the top of the stairs) before the swim.
A basic turbo will be fine, and most bike shops are now stocking them. I personally use a £120 spring loaded fluid turbo and it is great, and there are cheaper ones which would be suitable.
Summer training - time trials
There is plenty of information on local time trials in the Events section of the site. These are a great way of training for triathlon through the summer and for tracking your progress.
