Marlins 1500m Howe Bridge Leigh, 25th November 2006

Report by Andy Chalmers

Manchester Tri travelled to Leigh to take part in Howe Bridge Marlins 21st 1500m championships, entering 15 out of the 64 swimmers (organized by Dave Q), all the other entrants being from local swim clubs. We all arrived early afternoon and registered and then were put into heats down to predicted swim times. After a few pre swim nerves everyone settled down and put in some great performances equalling or exceeding predicted times.

Performance of the day was Alex Young who won the junior male category in his first race over 1500m. As well as Alex's first place Karen Elly was 2nd, Nina McArthur 3rd category and Jane McCormick 4th category.

A great local event with a very friendly atmosphere and a total change from training adding interest to the off-season, with a buffet and presentation after.
