North West Children's Series 2011

  • An opportunity for children age 8 - 16 (all ages as of 31/12/11) to participate in triathlon (swim, bike, run), aquathon (swim, run) and duathlon (run, bike, shorter run) with standard distance races for their age category.

  •  Many events also have shorter distance races as well for those who those who are new to the sport or do not want to compete over the longer standard distances. This gives everyone an opportunity to have a go!

  • We are trying out a new format this year with one continuous series of events instead of a separate summer and winter series and trophies to the top five in each category.

  • Those participating in the standard distance events in the Tristar 1 (ages 9/10), Tristar 2 (ages 11/12), Tristar 3 (ages 13/14) and Youth (15/16) categories, will score points for each race they complete. At the end of the season the points are added and trophies awarded to the top five in each age category and for each gender.

  • The specific criteria for the series are given below. Any queries should be directed to the children's series coordinator steven.jones@btinternet.com

Series Criteria:

  • Best 8 races to count
  • Race score based on first NW competitor scoring 100 and all others scoring (100 x competitor time/first NW time)
  • Maximum of 4 aquathons to count towards final score.
  • All competitors must reside in NW or declare their intention to participate only in this regional series to Children's chair before Bolton Aquathon (27th March)
  • Prizes for first 5 in Youths, T3, T2 & T1 and for each gender.
  • To be eligible for prizes, athletes must be a member of Tri England by June 1st at latest.
