Sat 29.09: Sign up for Northern 4/6 Stage Road Relays

Postby Rob Harvey » Tue Aug 14, 2007 3:07 pm

*** UPDATED - 21.09.2007***
- Suggested teams added
- Race Day info added and latest team news

MTC has affiliated to Northern Athletics. This has a number of benefits including being able to enter local cross country leagues and compete for team prizes at events such as the Wilmslow Half Marathon.

Another benefit is that we can enter teams in the Northern Women's 4 stage and men's 6 stage road relays to be held on Saturday 29th September at Birchwood Business Park, Warrington.

UPDATED - The women's event will commence at 12.00pm and is 2 laps of a 2.5k circuit. The men's event will commence at 1.00pm and is 3 laps of the same circuit. Presentation for the women's event will take place at approximately 1.30pm near the start/finish area. Men's presentation will taker place as soon as possible following the race. Details of entries and a course map will be displayed on the NoEAA website.

Let's all meet at the start/finish area between 11.15am-11.30am where I will give out the numbers. Any racing for the men's teams who can't make it that early (to cheer on women's teams) give me a call on the day (07906 635 559) and I will meet you between 12.20-12.30 near the start/finish area to give you your number, but I would prefer if everyone got there early so I can get this job out of the way.

Club colours/running vests need to be worn so anyone wanting to take part will need to beg, steal, borrow or buy one from Up and Running in Hyde.

Minimum age: 17 and over at midnight 31st August / 1st September 2007

It's £14 for a women's team and £21 for a men's team. This cost will need to be covered by team members so about £3.50 each. Bring this money on the day and pay me when you pick up your number.

Our aim is to enter 2 men's teams and 2 women's teams. There is no restiction as to the maximum number of teams that can enter and as we can enter upto 18 names per team we don't need to decide exactly who is running in which team until the week of the event. 1xmen's and 1xwomen's team will be classed as the 'A' team and if they finish in the top 25 they will qualify for National Championships. Even with a number of the clubs strongest runners tied to other clubs we still have a chance of qualifying for the Nationals so dig out your running pumps and get involved.

Closing date for entries is Wed 29th August so I would like to have teams decided by Wed 22nd August (that's one week tomorrow) so I can post them off in plenty of time.

If you want to take part either reply to this post or email me at rob@subsixty.com. I will put suggested teams up monday next week.

should be up for that
Record the sound of your washing machine onto a tape, then confuse
neighbours by playing it back on a battery operated cassette player
during a powercut.

This is a great event, on a very flat course with plenty of twists and turns. Unfortunatly i'll be sunning myself in Califonia at the time, but good luck to those who are doing it!
