Junior membership

Postby TonyJolly on Tue Mar 09, 2010 5:12 pm

Hiya Martin, thought I'd start a different thread for this.

What's the score with Junior membership, there's quite a bit on the website, but not much on joining etc, all I could see was the pro-rata Gold membership fee. Is there a bronze option for juniors, or a try before you join option?

Tony, good spot, I will update the website. Basically TriStar membership is £55 for the year, we will pro-rata as per senior and junior gold membership.

You can try it out at £3.50 session. We've got lots of stuff going on and coming up.

Give me a call if you want to talk about it.

Cheers
Martin

Hi,

I can't find the details of Junior membership on the site or anything about try outs. I'm not a member and neither are my kids (girls 9 & 7) but they want to give it a go. Both already swim and run elsewhere. Can we just turn up at the Wythenshaw Park cycling and pay £3.50.

If someone could confirm I'd be grateful.

Thanks,
Richard.

I have a similar query on behalf of an interested 10 year old. He's also concerned that he may be out of his depth from an ability point of view.

RichP, AlanH
Apologies for the late reply here. All the sessions cater for all abilities. Due to holidays etc. we're not running the Saturday bike session during August but will start up again in September. The session does cater for all, and for people new to the session we go thru basics like mounting, dismounting, braking, cornering, balance, coordination etc. etc. There's also some racing.

Running is similar, lots of drills and games, and a main set, everyone runs at their own pace so no need to be overawed. I guy from work brought his daughter down last wee and she just joined in with everyone else.

The swimming is slightly different. We're not geared up to teach anyone to swim, so we need juniors new to the session to undertake a swim which might be 50m or 2 x 25m. We're limited to 3 lanes so we need to make sure everyone can cover the basic distance.

The idea of the club is really to introduce the triathlon specific elements and whilst we can help improve swim technique etc we're never going to replace or replicate what a swimming club is able to offer.

If you drop an email to juniors@man-tri-club.org.uk, I'll add you to email loop that goes out on a regular basis.

Give me a call if you want further information.

You can try out a few sessions for £3.50

Thanks
Martin
