British Triathlon/Triathlon England have invited the club to take part in its live site in Exchange Square Manchester in the 4 days spanning the 2 olympic triathlon races.
The races will be shown on the big screen on Saturday 4th and Tuesday 7th August. Below the screen, the BTF will have a 'stationary triathlon' set up, a treadmill, wattbike and an endless pool. I took part last time, it was great fun and this time round it is on a larger scale with even better equipment.
The program will be:
Saturday - teams will race against each other, with prizes for the winners. Teams have 3 people and each person does 1 of the disciplines.
Sunday - a club day for people to hang out and to train using the equipment.
Monday - there will be a coach and people will be able to get individual coaching tips.
Tuesday - a club day for people to hang out and to train using the equipment.
The BTF have asked if the club will enter teams, and are also looking for people to help run the sites on the days. Anyone helping run the site will get food, T-shirt, and can have a go using the equipment during any quieter periods.
If you would like to join a team for the Saturday, post your name here (or post your whole team if you have one). Hopefully we can send a few teams there.
If you are able to help run the site on any of the days, also please post your name here or send an email to me chairman (@) man-tri-club.org.uk or to our regional triathlon representative Rob Bishop: robbishop (@) triathlonengland.org
And if anyone is planning to go down on one of the club or coaching days to have a look, post it here so people can meet up and have a chat
